2011 Is The Year That Was…
Posted by Ling on December 31, 2011
Wowee! 2011 is coming to an end and for me, 2011 is the year that was a rollercoaster ride!
Highlights of 2011 include : my Scottish family and friends came to visit me | getting into beauty blogging and making videos | launching another beauty blog – Lip Stalker | birth of my new niece | going to Hong Kong – which is where I will be when 2012 comes along in a few hours
Lowlights of 2011 include : chronic back pain | not being able to find a suitable job which means being poor | the biggest lowlight of all was discovering that the Mr and I both have alpha thalassaemia minor which means that we have a 1 in 4 chance of having a dead baby…!!!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to bigger and better and more beautiful things in 2012! I will be MIA for 2 weeks until my return…but you may catch my occasional tweet so follow me!! I cannot wait to show you the food I ate in Hong Kong. Till then, take care and…

Happy New Year! Why are you obsessed with posting about this defect. I know people who have it and had a healthy baby but just got on with things. Harping on about the fact you could have a dead baby is really insensitive as that has happened to some people.

Hi Ling! I found your blog after speaking to Jen about mine!! I can’t believe the comment you received above. I am glad you decided to reply to it and completely agree with your thoughts on the matter. I have only ever had nice comments on my blog so far and found other bloggers to be supportive and lovely (I’ve even met a few in ‘real life’ now!) so to see a narrow minded comment like this on your personal blog must have hurt and shocked you!
It is not insensitive at all to worry about having a dead baby, in fact, I’m sure anyone else who has been through the same thing might be interested to read about other people’s experiences/concerns relating to the condition. I know friends who have blogged about tough subjects and hard times they have been/are going through and find comfort in other blogs and support from readers commenting about their own similar experiences/feelings. As you rightly pointed out, this is your blog and your place to write (harp on) about whatever you wish! I look forward to reading more of your blog and hope you are not put off being honest and posting about the things affecting you as I find those kind of blogs the most interesting and thought provoking.

@Bex, OMG! I just read this comment! And OMG! You’re Bex from Dundee!!! How are you? And ooh, you have a blog!!! I love blogs!
I used to blog openly and honestly for a long time…until I started getting stupid hater comments which has kinda put me off so I blog less and less on this blog now. Kinda sad because it was therapeutic for me. I’m trying to slowly get back into it…but I dunno…I’ve been thinking of closing it down or moving into a less personal direction – but in doing so, I have no idea what to write!
Anyway, thanks for the lovely support! And I am off to stalk your blog right now! LOL
