Dear Neglected Friend #2
Posted by Ling on January 8, 2005
The problem with blogs is that they are public online documents for everyone to read. Some people never publish blogs about the nitty-gritty deep stuff. But I like it when people know my business. I am just open. It’s like an extract from Bridget Jones’ Diary without the granny knickers!
Anyway, I found this on my boyfriend, Mr Geek’s blog :-
I have also committed the sin of neglecting my dear family and friends in my pursuit of happiness…
That’s quite sad to hear…
I feel kinda awful…maybe I take up too much of his time…Sorry…
Maybe he should get his friends to slap him silly – I gave my friend permission here.

Let’s just say IF ok, a big IF you are the source to Shawn’s happiness, then I totally understand. Both ways, the happiness part and the neglect of family part. I guess I’m still looking for the right balance between (girl)friend and family. In terms of God, I can’t really neglect Him, or dare to neglect Him, cos without Him I wouldn’t have friend or family.
Then again, Shawn probably meant some other source of happiness. Anyway, don’t dump him la. It won’t help anything Ling Ling.

I’ve been learning that being in a relationship inevitably changes your relationships with other people (yeah, yeah, label me naive for not knowing that after 19 years of my life if you want). And it changes you too (no allusions to sean’s dress sense of late and “ling, the serious girl” whatsoever
)! I think 2 things need to happen for any serious relationship to work:
1. Onlookers need to make some allowances for change, i mean you can’t expect everything to remain as it was since 2 people becoming 1 (*pukes at this point*) is quite a big event, no? And anyway, aside from the fact that God’s word says that “a man will leave his mother and father to be with his wife”, there’s always that honey-moon period where they have eyes for no other.
2. The couple needs to seek God’s will together, and not stop doing the lovey-dovey thing if they wish, but at some point wake up and remember that the world doesn’t revolve around them… I guess there’s gotta be some pain and humility on all parties involved! But, i sincerely believe (even though i may not sound like it) overall that the world is a better place because of couples :spinning:
Btw guys, she was just joking about the dumping thing, y’know?
At least i think she was… maybe i don’t know her as well as i think. Hehe.
