H2O

It was my farewell party the other night.  Yes, I am leaving my current workplace due to disagreements with the practice owner – which I won’t talk about right now.
Anyway, we had dinner and then drinks, drinks and more drinks.  Although I was born and bred in the UK, I am more Chinese than I am British.  I don’t get the Western drinking culture.  I work so hard to waste it on alcohol?  Erm, no thanks.
I was like, “Yeah, water for me.  Tap, please!”

No, I’m not THAT cheap.   I didn’t say “tap”

…unlike Mr Geek!!  A while ago, we were on a works night out with all his medic colleagues in this posh West End Italian restaurant.  The waiter came round and asked everyone for their drink orders.  “Beer…diet Coke…beer…vodka and lemonade….”

It was Mr Geek’s turn and he said “Water please”

The waiter asked, “Sparkling or still sir?”

 “TAP!”

Everyone around the table stifled their laughter.

And then it was my turn.  “Water please”

“Sparkling or still?” (no ‘tap’ option still)

“HOT water please!”

This may be an overgeneralisation, but why do Western people not drink hot water.  Drinking hot water seems to be a foreign drink for them!

In conclusion :  Chinese people are cheap.
