Morphing

Morphing is defined as the smooth transition from one image to another

I think I am slowly morphing into my boyfriend, Mr Geek.

Recently, the dynamics of our relationship have changed.  My new job does not start till another week or two, so I have soooo much free time on my hands, whereas he’s working like there’s no tomorrow.

When I see him after his work, he just wants to eat his dinner and wind down by playing computer games.

He doesn’t want to hear me moaning about how boring my day was; he doesn’t want to hear me nag him about this and that; he doesn’t want to know about what I did or how much fun I had…etc…

No…don’t get me wrong…I am totally fine about that…because I was like that too.  When I was working, I’d come home and eat and block out EVERYONE else; e.g.  my sister or brother would ask me a question but I wouldn’t hear them as I was zoning out of work mode.

Anyway, in order to spend quality time with Mr Geek, I have found myself looking over his shoulder in order to watch him play computer games – Double Dragon, Super Mario, Meteos, etc….

It’s actually quite fun.

I adore watching his eyes light up when he sees that he’s killed some boss.

I adore it when he gives me a running commentary of what he is doing and how he can get past that stage - “See…to kill this guy, you have to stand here and just do this special move”

I adore it when he realises that he’s done something really stupid and he’ll switch off the game and start again – this is so that he won’t look silly in front of me…

I am slowly morphing into Mr Geek because, with my free time, I have started playing computer games too!

But I fail miserably – I try and remember all the tips that he has taught me, but I still fail.

Therefore, I eagerly wait for him to return from work so I can watch him play and defeat the baddies; taking in all the tips he gives…and I just watch and learn…

(This is how bad it’s become…)

- Mr Geek goes to toilet to take a dump
- The music of Super Mario can be heard

Me : Mr GEEK!  Don’t play!!  I wanna watch!!
Mr Geek  : Don’t worry, I’m playing a mini-game – not Super Mario
Me : Phew!
