Nightmares Of A Dentist

Posted by Ling on September 2, 2008

A nightmare is defined as a dream arousing feelings of intense fear, horror and distress

People find it strange when I tell them my favourite genre of film and book is – HORROR!

I love it when I get scared.  It gets the adrenaline pumping and my heart beats faster and I sweat bucket-loads and I scream like a big baby!   Call me strange but I enjoy waking up in the middle of the night as a result of having  a nightmare!!!!

Recently, I have been having this recurrent theme of nightmare.  Nightmares where I lose my teeth!  There are so many different ways you can lose teeth and I have been experiencing them all in these nightmares.

In one of them, I was strapped down by my colleague who extracted my healthy tooth as an act of vengeance.  Blood and teeth everywhere!  SICK!!!

Maybe I deserve these nightmares because I enjoy doing teeth extractions on my patients.  One of my patients praised me for my tooth extractions skills and she said she has been telling everyone how wonderful I am.  But if I keep getting these nightmares, maybe I should just quit dentistry!!  Haha.

The first thing I do when I wake up from these nightmares is to check that all my teeth are there.
