The Interview
Posted by Ling on March 17, 2004
Interviews are so nerve-racking. So nerve-racking that I decided to not prepare for them!! Well, I didn’t want to spew any memorised answers to conventional interview questions. I wanted my personality to shine through. Ahem…this means that I sound silly sometimes.
There are many jobs everywhere but there is one place which appealed to me and I was lucky enough to get an interview.
There were 2 interviewers at this interview and here is what happened :-
Interviewer 1 : Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Me : I hope to be in a happy place doing something I really enjoy
(What I meant was – Heck, I hope to be happily married with babies!!)
(What he probably wanted to hear was - In 5 years time, I see myself as being a successful dentist with a large database of patients and I am sure working in your prestigious practice will propagate me into doing so.)
Interviewer 2 : Imagine if you are treating a patient and he faints, what would you do?
Me : I’d tell myself to not faint too and BREATHE!
(What I was supposed to say was, put the patient in the recovery position…)
Anyway, when I said that, both the interviewers laughed. I wonder if that is a good or bad sign… Oh well, I find out on 7th of April…
