True Friends
Posted by Ling on July 21, 2010
True friends are hard to come by these days. Recently, Sis 2 has been troubled with a friendship turned sour. Actually, the same case happened to Sis 4 at the end of last year. Anyway, here’s the story. Sis 2 rented out her apartment to one of her friends. Everything seemed fine. Until this big fat council tax bill came through. The tenant is liable to pay this council tax, not the owner of the flat! But guess what? He refused to pay this bill and now my sister has had to fork out ££££. Yes, he just upped and left. (And the exact same thing happened to Sis 4.)
Yes, when it comes to money, friendships can go sour easily. I just do not understand how so-called friends can do that. I have to say that the Tung sisters are really gullible and naive and we trust people too easily and it just means that people walk all over us.
What I really find out of order is how Sis 2′s friend turned it all around and said, “Why can’t we be friends anymore?“ Hello? You just ripped us off out of ££££ (4 figure sum of money)!!! And Sis 4′s friend said to her, “You’re not human!“ Hello? We just want you to pay the money that YOU owe the council!!!!
Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest because I often wonder who my true friends are. Some have not even contacted me since I left UK last year, but I have still invited them to come to our wedding. I just feel bad excluding people. (As a result, I have ended up inviting ex-boyfriends who don’t speak to me anyway…) I am just too nice for my own good sometimes. (Haha, I complimented myself!)
This blog is dedicated to Mr Dorky’s friends Mr and Mrs P, who cancelled their honeymoon to attend our Scottish wedding. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is true friendship! Now where were my Scottish friends at our Australian wedding…??

You should wave the proof that he was staying there for the time period, and threaten to bring him to small claims court. Dunno if this case qualifies for it or not. But maybe could scare the crap out of him.
Good luck in your wedding prep!

@Sharon – what a sweet comment! Thank you so much!
@HC – He doesn’t give a toss! Because my sister wrote to the council and spoke to them…but because he won’t cough up the money, my sister ends up having to pay! GURRR!!

Hm, I don’t pay the council tax, my landlord does. it’s to make a judgment here. for some rents, council tax is included, for others it isn’t. perhaps ur sis didn’t make that clear? anyway, when it comes to money and these types of situations, friend of not, a contract still has to be signed… yeah… perhaps you girls are too gullible!

Hey Ling, thanks for the lovely invities! And we figured that you probably need time and space to plan your wedding in peace, esp. in such a short space of time! However do you cope?!
Hope it’s all going well and looking forward to seeing you as a beautiful bride! xx
